Known in Hungarian as “kerti szegfű,” the term “carnation” originates from its use as a constant flower in ancient Greek and Roman rituals, symbolizing “flower crown.” Today, wild carnations are still a striking sight in the Mediterranean region, found in Spain, Italy, Croatia, Albania, Greece, and Turkey. Its scent is lively and floral, with hints of clove and a slight cinnamon and nutmeg blend.
